Family Orientation Checklist - Summer 2023

Do you appreciate checklists? If you do, use this New Student Orientation (NSO) Family Checklist to ensure you and your student are completing each step of NSO. 

  1. Be on the lookout for your Blue Hen Family Hub invitation - check!
  2. Review the weekly Family Orientation posts in the Blue Hen Family Hub.
        • Week 1-June 14: Introduction & Academics-June 26
        • Week 2-June 26: Health & Wellbeing - July 5
        • Week 3-July 10: Campus Resources-July 12
        • Week 4-July 17: Student Involvement -July 19
        • Week 5-July 24: Wrap Up & What’s Next -July 26
  3. Ask your student to log in to the Blue Hen Home portal and read about each component of their student NSO experience.
    1. Ask your student if they have signed up for a virtual Meet Your College session
    2. Ask your student if they have signed up for a virtual Academic Advising appointment 
    3. Ask your student if they have registered for a live NSO program (either on campus or virtual) 
  4. Encourage your student to log in to their online NSO course and get started with the first three sections: Welcome, Important Academic Information & Resources, and Meet Your College
    1. All students must complete the online NSO canvascourse regardless of live NSO program participation
  5. Help your student navigate submitting their medical history and immunization records.
  6. Review the Student Health Insurance options.
  7. Register to attend live Zoom info sessions on topics that you'd like to learn more about, through the Blue Hen Family Hub Calendar.
  8. Remind your student to Save the Date for UD Welcome Days: August 26-28

If a student is accepted to the Marching Band post-audition, do they have to arrive at UD earlier than the normally scheduled date of arrival for On Campus students?
