Welcome to the Blue Hen Community!
The Office of Disability Support Services (DSS) provides accommodations and services to incoming and current UD students with disabilities, psychological or medical conditions, or temporary injuries that limit their access to the UD environment.
Students seeking accommodations should visit the DSS website for more detailed information regarding the process and documentation necessary for services.
How can you support your student in registering with our office?
- Encourage your student to fill out a “New Student Application” on our website.
- They may need your help locating appropriate documentation. Please see our Documentation Requirements
- After your student has submitted their application and documentation, they should call our office to set up a registration appointment. We recommend they meet with our office after they have completed New Student Orientation and met with their academic advisor.
- If student’s have previously received accommodations for extended testing time, we recommend mentioning to your academic advisor, not to schedule classes back-to-back, so this accommodation can be properly utilized.
- Remind your student to check their UD email. It is often our main form of communicating important information.
- Help prepare your student to begin independently advocating for their needs!
While the physical UD campus is closed, DSS is still meeting with and registering students via phone, Zoom, and other virtual platforms. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.
