Give NowDigital Delivery Program FAQ
In our Textbooks 101 post, we talked about Digital Delivery, a program that some courses use for their textbooks and materials. Here are some frequently asked questions that can help you better understand the program.
What exactly is the Digital Delivery Program?
It is a method chosen by professors to electronically deliver required course materials to ALL students enrolled in a participating course in lieu of physical textbooks. Many large introductory courses (Accounting 200, Biology 207, Psychology 100, to name a few) use this program.
Why do professors choose it?
The program ensures that students have access to required course materials on the first day of class. It is also more cost effective for students as it is provided to students at a cheaper price than physical materials.
What does it include?
Ebooks or an Ebook with an online component required for homework and/or assignments. Most of these courses also have a print upgrade of the ebook available for participating students at a reduced cost.
How will I know if my student is enrolled in a course using Digital Delivery?
The faculty notifies the students in their course syllabus about the required materials for the course. Students also receive TWO emails from the UD Bookstore letting them know that they are in a course using Digital Delivery as well as what they are receiving and the price. The UD Bookstore website also has the required materials for every course listed for the semester. Courses using Digital Delivery will have it listed in the book title under the course requirements.

How do I pay?
ALL students enrolled in a course using Digital Delivery will have the cost of the materials charged to their UD student account. It will show up as a “University Bookstore Charge.” It cannot be ordered via our website like a traditional textbook and you must pay for it through your UD student account. If you add Digital Delivery to your cart when checking out, it will be removed from your order during processing.
Can my student opt out?
Yes, although it is not recommended. Many courses use Digital Delivery for assignments, and opting out means losing access to this component which could impact your student’s performance. Instructions for opting out are included in the emails sent out by the UD Bookstore. Students must reply to one of these emails PRIOR to the course drop/add deadline for the semester.
