UD Marching Band
The University of Delaware Fightin' Blue Hen Marching Band is more than 300 members strong and is known throughout the Northeast as a performance ensemble with an innovative approach to entertainment and an emphasis on musicality. The band incorporates a variety of musical styles that appeal to a diversity of audiences. The band performs before more than 20,000 during home football games at Delaware Stadium, travels to select away games, and appears in exhibitions at high-school marching band festivals and at the Collegiate Marching Band Festival.
UD Cheerleading
UD has one of the most high-profile cheerleading teams in the country. This team "pumps up the volume" at UD sporting events with its cheers, choreographed routines, and elite stunts. The team also competes in national spirit championships and has appeared on ESPN2, starred in promos for ABC-TV's "Monday Night Football," and traveled to China, among other highlights. Cheerleading scholarships are available. The program offers the opportunity to make lifelong friendships. Just ask the scores of cheerleading alumni who first met on the sidelines of a Delaware football game.
UD Dance Team
The nationally ranked University of Delaware Dance Team performs jazz, hip hop, and pom routines with the skill and technique attained through years of dance studio experience. The 14-16 member team performs at all UD home football and basketball games, selected volleyball, lacrosse, and baseball games, and other University and community events such as Homecoming, Parents & Family Weekend, variety shows, and charity events. The team also competes annually at the UDA/UCA National Championships at Walt Disney World. Each team member receives a partial scholarship directly.
YoUDee
YoUDee is the official mascot of the University of Delaware Fighting Blue Hens. YoUDee's proud lineage extends to the Revolutionary War. It and the Blue Hens before it have a reputation for courage and ferocity in battle, traits symbolic of the fighting spirit of the University of Delaware's athletic teams.
Birdgade
Delaware Athletics is proud to partner with the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources to bring live Blue Hens to our athletic events. The Birdgade – a proud troop of Blue Hens whose personality and stories pay tribute to the Fightin’ Blue Hens Revolutionary War background.
